From 2014 to 2024, the Office of Project Management for Student Success Initiatives (OPMSSI) supported a collective impact approach at UIC, with a focus on the success of all UIC undergraduate, graduate, and professional students. The office provided project management support for collaborative high-impact projects that were designed to elevate student experience, enhance equitable progress to degree, and remove roadblocks for student success at UIC.

A leadership team, involving representatives from Faculty Affairs, Colleges (Committee of Assistant and Associate Deans), Diversity, Student Affairs, Student Success and Belonging, Assessment and Planning, and OPMSSI, identified and prioritized projects that most efficiently contributed to the improvement of student success. An Advisory Board received updates about ongoing SSI project, shared input to guide future efforts, and advocated for the required resources for the implementation of the project objectives.

The role of the OPMSSI was to facilitate collaboration, troubleshoot issues, advocate for the success of the projects, and share the outcomes with the campus. The office supported projects’ success through a project management framework, while monitoring the alignment of project steps for achieving the expected outcomes. As part of its responsibilities, this office developed tools and resources that supported the projects and their assessment. OPMSSI maintained its commitment to transparency by providing regular updates to the campus through the projects status reports posted on this website.
