Project Objectives

The goal of our project team is to strategize ways to widely implement and promote The UIC Experience program.  Through a partnership with Academic Affairs and Student Affairs, The UIC Experience is a co-curricular road map for navigating out-of-the-classroom urban, academic, and cultural activities available to UIC students. Students earn The UIC Experience Certificate after engaging in 2 experiences from 3 key areas—Urban Exploration, Inquiring Minds, and Community—and documenting what they have learned. These three areas define the unique character of UIC: a highly diverse, urban, research intensive public university.

Six areas of emphasis crucial to successfully implementing and promoting The UIC Experience program are:

  •  Integrate The UIC Experience program into Summer Orientation 2015.
  • Evaluate and promote the A La Carte Theme, identify trigger points (departmental requirements) to engage students with this theme, and streamline the online documentation process.
  • Evaluate and enhance current theme partners’ activities, identify trigger points (departmental requirements) to engage students with these themes, and streamline the online documentation process.
  • Introduce The UIC Experience to potential West Side medical school theme partners and determine what these partners’ themes might entail.
  • Evaluate and create an effective advertising campaign and roll-out timeline by identifying key branding and key messaging.
  • Assess student users’ experience and satisfaction with The UIC Experience program during 2014-2015.
